PESSRAL Control Systems
PESSRAL stands for “Programmable Electronic System in Safety-Related Applications for Lifts”. This refers to safety-related functions of elevator systems that were previously largely performed by various mechanical-electrical components. They are increasingly being taken over by a programmable electronic control (PES) with corresponding sensors and actuators that exchange data via bus systems.
This major step towards further digitization of elevator systems makes some mechanical safety functions obsolete and enables a higher safety standard with lower maintenance costs. This is because the software reacts dynamically to dangerous situations, constantly provides data and does not wear out. In addition, it can be continuously adapted to new standards
